        | | Bread of Life Outreach Ministries In Christ Church was founded in 1989 by Pastor LeRoy E. Sullivan, Senior Pastor.  We are a predominately African-American
congregation located in the heart of Kansas City, KS with an average Sunday attendance of
approximately 150.  Although our numbers are small compared to many other churches, we are
committed to reaching out to a hurting world with the genuine love of Jesus Christ.

        | |

        | | Our goal is to revitalize our community and bring hope to
people for a better tomorrow with
the message of Jesus Christ.  We
want to establish a place that will
 promote and equip individuals to
live a redemptive life, which will
 ultimately produce redemptive
families and affect change in the
entire life of our community.  This
 includes every aspect of social,
 economic and civic behavior.  We
believe this can only be achieved by
being a ‘bridgeâ to promote harmony
 between every culture, ethnic and
 denominational distinction.

        | | | | |

        | | |

        | |

        | | We are a non-denominational, non-traditional church body.  Through our worship and in our everyday lives, we stress having an individual "relationship" with Christ as opposed to having
"religion".  With unwavering faith, we press towards the mark of our long-term vision of having
a strong and healthy ministry that is able to minister to people of every age; but especially
target our youth for training that will enable them to be models of integrity, morality and
productivity in the community.  These plans include an Enrichment Center which will provide
career development skills (computer training, job market skills, ie. work ethics, how to interview
for a job, etc.), literacy and remedial programs for basic skills, and instruction in practical life
issues such as personal responsibility, marriage and pre-marital counseling, family
 relationships and community involvement.

        | |

        | | | |

        | | | All of these areas, which proceed from the vision
 God has given to us,
 hinge on the truths of
 Scripture and the
 implementation of its
 principles.  While we
 appreciate efforts from
 the public sector, our
 desire is to bring the
 power of God, and the
 enduring glory of His ord,
 to bear upon every facet
 of life in this (His)
 community, thereby
 redeeming the
 community.

        | | Reading / Literacy / Math
 Our target is grade school,
 middle school and high school
 students.  Those students with
 average or below average
 scores are our main focus.
Our goal is to work with each
student until he is at or above
 the standard for his grade
level.   This will be done after
 regular school hours at our
 Youth Enrichment Center
facility and in some cases, at
the school of the student we
 are mentoring.

 The goal of this ministry,
 under the Leadership of
 Pastor LeRoy Sullivan,
 National Urban Ministry
 Director,  is to strengthen
 and enrich marriages
 nationwide, and to better
 prepare couples that are
 planning to marry.   This
 ministry has a successful
 track record because of
 strong leadership and active
 participation.  Through our
 partnership with Christ
 Lutheran Ministries, this
 ministry is growing rapidly
 and has recently received
 national recognition.

 The Bread of Life Enrichment
 Center will eventually become
 the Greater Kansas City hub
 for future urban Marriage
 Savers and Strategic Family
 Ministry activities.  Our
 Enrichment Center provides
 an approachable setting
away from the church in a
 residential environment
where we are able to conduct
 counseling, tutoring, and
 instructional activities.  This
 will eventually grow into being
 a ministry service that is
 suitable for the general
 population, both Christian
 and non-Christian

        | | Our current means of implementing this vision includes street evangelism, working with our public school district, visiting families in their homes and endeavoring to meet their personal
and spiritual needs, prison ministry (Leavenworth Federal Prison - “Life Connections”),
nursing home visitation, involvement with the 18th Street Community Development Corporation
( a project focused on bringing new housing to the area), a food pantry, and emergency
 assistance.

        | | The long-term phase of our vision includes plans to have a strong healthy church that is able to minister to people of all ages; but especially targeting our youth for training that will enable
them to be models of integrity, morality, and productivity in the community.  These plans
include the use of our “Enrichment Center” which will be used to provide job skills training
(basic computer skills, work ethics, interview skills, etc.), literacy and remedial reading,

 and God's miraculous supply.

        | | The BREAD symbolizes the coming together of many varied and different grains, which lose their identity as wheat, and gain a new identity when joined together to
make bread.  We want to be a church that welcomes and expresses the diversity of
 the Body of Christ.

The GRAPES represent God's provision and blessing; but they also portray death
to self, and commitment to Him, as the grapes are crushed, squeezed, and blended
to make the wine that symbolizes His blood and His Spirit.

 The HANDS are not hanging down, nor are they reaching out to receive something;
but rather are lifted up, representing the attitude of worship and adoration we want
to have for God; but also our attitude toward those who bless and befriend us.  "A
Hand Up, Not A Hand Out", is our motto.

The CROSS of course is central to all that we do, and all that we are.  The small
cross on the larger cross represents His cross bearing our cross that we may bear
the cross of others.  Our desire is for everyone who comes in our doors, to be
touched by the truth of His cross; the wisdom and power of God.
