YOUTH Field Trip 2004
Every March while our middle school and high school
kids are on spring break, we designate one week as
our Youth Emphasis Week. During this time , we
schedule various activities to keep our youth busy and
stimulate their minds with something else besides
video games, television, dating, and things of that
nature.
On Wednesday of that week we have a field trip day. We
visit various businesses and establishments across
the KC metropolitan area that expose our youth to
people and places that they would not normally
encounter. In the past, we've visited TV & radio stations,
museums, and organizations that will hopefully inspire
them to think about their futures and career paths.
This year, was no different. On March 17th, our stops
included Kansas Speedway, the Kansas City St.
Patrick's Day parade, and a meeting with
Kansas City, KS Mayor Carol Marinovich.

Favorite meal: Catfish - with macaroni and corn

Most embarrassing moment: "One day at school I was
feeling sick and I didn't want to eat my lunch. My mother
ended up coming up to my school to make sure I ate.
My mother and a bunch of teachers stood around me
and watched me eat. Everybody was watching"
Pets: None
Favorite school subject: Math.
Why? "Because I know I'll need it one day." "It's
important."
Hobbies: Drawing and collecting toy cars (Hot Wheels,
Dub City, and Import Racers).
Where do you see yourself 10 years from now: "I can
see myself being a C.S.I. (Crime Scene Investigator)
because I watch the show and I like what they do."
Short testimony: "God gave me some 2nd chances to do
some things. One time at summer camp I almost
drowned. It was scary but at the same time it was
amazing because I somehow managed to pull myself
over to the side of the pool and I know that it was God
looking out for me."

This is for anyone that has struggled with keeping their virginity and waiting until marriage
Sexual purity these days is taken about as seriously as a U.F.O sighting. It's sad that most young people look at virginity and sexual
purity as a joke. A lot of times, a young man in our society isn't considered to be a real man unless he has had sex. This often leads to
kids having kids and a high number of children having to grow up without fathers. This way of thinking in our youth population is
devastating. Many young people are fooled and weakened by television and the media into believing that it's too hard to maintain their
virginity for a long period of time. Are we that blind that we can't see that it's all a part if Satan's plan?
If he can eliminate our earthly fathers from our home, how are we supposed to learn valuable qualities such as respect, dignity, and
obedience to authority? If we don't know how to relate to our earthly father, then how would we know how to relate to a heavenly one?
By eliminating the father, Satan eliminates a lot of authority and a household is weakened as a whole. Many boys and young men
should concentrate more on stimulating their minds and being respectable instead of being obsessed with sex. Maybe then we can
start to be looked at as men and not dogs. We see women degraded in videos and in the lyrics of popular music and then we're
surprised by the outcome.
Too many young women don't know how to recognize a self-respectable young man because they have not had a respectable
father-figure in their home to look at as an example of a man. Girls, if you don't respect your own body, how do you expect a guy to?
I'm currently engaged and one of the things that makes me love my fiance more is the fact that she hasn't given in. She's chosen to
save herself because she feels her dignity and chastity are invaluable as they should be. Yet still, qualities like this are rarely heard of.
A young man or young woman is not defined by whether or not you've "done it" before so don't be fooled by the devil's tricks.
YOUNG MEN - Be a man and stand up for something other than yourself! Stop trying to define yourself by sex. Virginity is a gift that is
easily taken for granted.
YOUNG WOMEN - Please stop degrading yourselves by lowering your standards because you think everybody else is doing it! The
higher your standards are, the better type of mate you'll end up with.
